Happy Friday, friends! You’ve made it to another weekend! Woooo! Even though Jordan started work this week, I’ve still been off this week for one final week of summer adventures (or lack thereof). This past week consisted of the following…
1) A SHOUTOUT TO MY AWESOME HUBBY
My husband started work at a new teaching job this week, and I am so, SO proud of him! These last two years have been a journey filled with lots of prayer as we dreamed about what kind of teaching job he would get. He was offered his dream job teaching high school in the same district as I teach last year, but due to some frustrating HR interactions at his old district, wasn’t allowed to accept it and had to teach elementary one more year. I’m so proud of how he still loved kids and taught well in that hard scenario. But now? He finally is starting up at that high school where he originally got offered the job. He’s coaching cross country, co-teaching biology, and teaching a few sections of Essential Skills, or more basic, functional Special Ed classes. He is an amazing, compassionate coach and teacher and I love seeing him finally getting to do a job he loves! The 2015-2016 school year is going to be a good one!
2) Parenthood and Couch Time
Y’all, I am kind of embarrassed by how much Parenthood I’ve watched the last two weeks. I decided to re-watch it from the beginning since I’ve been home a lot this summer doing lots of blogging, the occasional house project, and just some lazy time. This show shows life and emotions so well, and I pretty much bawl my eyes out at least once an episode. I just wish I could be a Braverman, you know?
3) Lots of Airbnb Guests
We have had Airbnb guests 4-5 nights a week since we got back from California. We’ve been Airbnb hosts for about four months now, and it has been an easy way to make anywhere from $400-$700/month, especially since we’ve upped our prices now that we have lots of good reviews. Since we started, we’ve hosted a mother and son from Hungary (who were wonderful conversationalists over breakfast), a 75 year old woman who travels the world and told crazy stories about sleeping on park benches in Panama, and lots and lots of people passing through Kansas City on cross-country road trips. I’m hoping to write a post on how we do this soon, so if you have a spare bedroom and are looking to make some extra cash, stay tuned! Or check out this post I wrote about how to use Airbnb as a guest…another fun option to keep travel cheap and meet cool new people! This link below is the live listing for our house. Pretty cool, right?

4) Vulnerability In Blogging
I’ve published some pretty honest posts on here since it all started, and my hope is that in sharing some of the things I’ve wrestled with, you all would feel encouraged and be reminded that you’re not the only one who struggles. But this post I wrote about sexual intimacy in marriage? I had a minor freakout before posting it on Monday. It’s such a hard topic to talk about, but one I’m extremely passionate about and think needs to be brought out into the open more often. I was so encouraged by all the positive responses, by all the people who commented with a resounding “Me too!” I long for this blog to be an honest community where we share the real and the joyful and the hard, and Monday, I felt like it was. Thanks to all of you wonderful people who encourage me by reading, commenting, and sharing! And make sure to check out Monday’s post if you haven’t already!
5) Stuffed Zucchini Boats & Triple Berry Crisp
An old friend of Jordan’s is staying with us this weekend, and it will be the first time in a while I cook. Let’s just say summer has made me pretty lazy! I’m planning on cooking one of my old favorites: stuffed zucchini boats from Lexi’s Clean Kitchen. Oh man, they are SO hearty and delicious and go so well with some garlic bread (which is totally not Paleo but come on, it’s delicious). And then for dessert, I’m going to make another summer favorite: this delicious, juicy berry crisp from All-Recipes. You can make it with any kind of frozen fruit and it’s so good eaten warm with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream. Yum!
Happy weekend, friends! What are some of your favorite happenings from this week or fun plans for this weekend?

So many things I love about this post! For one, can we just talk about how much we want to Bravermans? I binge-watched most of the series, and sometimes it’s just too emotional to do more than 2 or 3 episodes at a time! Also, so cool that you guys rent your extra room on AirBnB! I’d love to read more about that. And congrats to your husband on his new job! Cheers to wonderful weekend and coming year!

I fully believe that Parenthood was one of the best shows on TV, and i was so sad when it ended! It was one of those shows that made me feel all the feels, and I would cry at least once each episode even though I’m not a big crier.
