My best friend Haley is an amazingly talented photographer who has documented just about every important part of our life (I’m not kidding…she’s taken pics of our proposal and engagement pictures, parts of our wedding, our pregnancy announcement, our maternity photos, and lots of other pics along the way!). So when she came out to visit and meet the newest member of our family, we were so excited to have her take some newborn pics of our sweet little man!
Taking these pictures was quite the adventure since newborns don’t exactly cooperate with any schedule but their own. These sweet ones of him sleeping were some of the first ones we took and they are pretty much too angelic for words. I mean…look at that sweet face!
Olive had to get in on the action too (and give Caleb kisses on the head which mom usually does NOT allow her to do).
Since Caleb’s already 6 weeks old, he’s starting to lift his head up and get more curious about the world. He’s also starting to make the most ridiculous and hilarious facial expressions. These ones cracked Jordan and I up more than any other ones!
Once he got a little crabby and hungry, I moved to the couch to nurse and snuggle him for a while. These pictures that Haley snapped of those snuggles are some of my favorites. I haven’t showered, put on makeup, or done my hair like I have in previous photo shoots, but I think I like these pictures even more for that reason. They capture this season of life so well!
Once he fell asleep again, we moved upstairs to take a few in our room. I love comparing these to the maternity pictures we took in there when I was 8 months pregnant and seeing how our family has grown! And Olive cracked us up by jumping up on the bed and lying right next to us as if she knew exactly which pose would work the best!
Lastly, we moved to the nursery (you can check out the nursery reveal here). These pictures of Jordan holding Caleb just about make my heart melt. I am so excited to see Caleb learn to be a man from the incredible man I’m so lucky to call my husband.
Finally, we put Caleb in some clothes (naked babies are much cuter than clothed ones). This KC onesie was part of our pregnancy announcement and our maternity pictures so it was fun to finally see Caleb in it (even if he wasn’t as excited about it as we were).
And maybe our favorite picture of the whole day?
These pictures capture so many different parts of our experience as new parents. I know we will look back on them years from now and be amazed by how teeny he is and how young we were, but for now, I just love how they capture the snuggles and the joy.
